Mexico, A Journey Through Taste
Some places stay with you through the memories you make. Others through the flavours you discover.

Last year, we chose Mexico for our honeymoon. We were searching for sunshine, warmth, culture and extraordinary food. What we found was so much more. From the vibrant streets of Mexico City to the timeless beauty of Oaxaca and the slow rhythm of Puerto Escondido, every place invited us to experience Mexico through all five senses.
As we travelled, I couldn't stop thinking about how much gastronomy and fashion have in common:
Both begin with an idea.
Both celebrate craftsmanship.
Both tell stories.
Both have the power to stay with us long after the moment has passed.

We stayed at Hotel Condesa DF, a place where timeless architecture, quiet mornings and the rhythm of the neighbourhood instantly make you feel at home. Coffee from % Arabica became our daily ritual before wandering through galleries, boutiques and the city's remarkable culinary scene.

Every meal felt like a story, but one stayed with us above all: EM. Delicate, unexpected and deeply emotional, it was a reminder that the most memorable experiences, whether in food or fashion, are the ones that leave a lasting feeling.
EM — Creative, refined and unforgettable
Máximo — Seasonal cooking with soul
Contramar — A vibrant seafood classic
Pujol — Contemporary Mexican cuisine at its finest
Hotel Condesa DF — Timeless design in the heart of Condesa
Oaxaca: Where Mexico Live
By pure chance, our trip coincided with Día de los Muertos, making the experience even more unforgettable. The city came alive with colour, music and emotion as streets filled with marigolds, candles, handcrafted altars and the unmistakable scent of Pan de Muerto.

There is something deeply authentic about Oaxaca. Its vibrant traditions, rich craftsmanship and slower rhythm make it unlike anywhere else. Here, culture isn't performed for visitors, it's simply lived. If there's one place that truly captures the soul of Mexico, it's Oaxaca. Without a doubt, it was the highlight of our journey and a place that will stay with us forever.
Where to Eat and Stay in Oaxaca
Oaxaca offers an endless number of extraordinary places, but if I had to choose only two restaurants, these would be the ones.
Crudo - is an incredibly special Japanese omakase built entirely around ingredients from the region. It is intimate, unexpected and deeply connected to Oaxaca. Be prepared to step outside your comfort zone: chapulines, worms and local flavours appear throughout the experience, reinterpreted with precision and elegance.
Levadura de Olla - brings the cuisine of the mountains surrounding Oaxaca into a contemporary setting. Its founder draws inspiration from the food her grandmother used to cook, working with local produce and ancestral recipes while giving them a modern voice.

We stayed at Otro Oaxaca, a quiet architectural retreat where contemporary design meets the city's historic soul. From its peaceful interiors to the rooftop overlooking the cathedral, every detail invites you to slow down and simply take it all in.

Puerto Escondido: Slowing Down
Our final stop was Puerto Escondido, where we stayed at Hotel Terrestre, designed by Taller de Arquitectura (TACO). More than a hotel, it felt like a place to reconnect with nature. Barefoot walks through the sand, architecture that blends seamlessly into the landscape and long, quiet afternoons invited us to embrace a slower rhythm of life.
Just a few minutes away, the beach quickly became part of our daily routine. Mornings by the ocean, long lunches, fresh margaritas and nowhere else to be.
One evening, we experienced Kakurega Omakase, where Japanese technique meets exceptional local ingredients in a beautifully open-air setting. Every course felt considered, simple and unforgettable.

Perhaps that's what I'll remember most about Mexico. Whether it's an exceptional tasting menu or a small street-side taquería, every meal is prepared with the same generosity, authenticity and respect for local ingredients. Here, food isn't simply something you eat, it's part of everyday life.

Puerto Escondido: A Place Worth Visiting
Just a few metres away lies Casa Wabi, a place that perfectly captures the spirit of the Oaxacan coast. Designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, it is far more than a foundation, it's where architecture, contemporary art and nature exist in complete harmony.
Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and untouched landscape, it offers a unique dialogue between local craftsmanship, international artists and the beauty of simplicity. A place of silence, inspiration and contemplation that is absolutely worth visiting.

Until the Next Journey
Every place leaves something behind. Sometimes it's a flavour you'll never forget. Sometimes it's the warmth of the people, the colours of a market or the silence of an early morning by the sea.
Mexico reminded us that the most meaningful journeys aren't measured by the places we visit, but by the memories we collect along the way.
